Connectivity
InterLinx connects to the
Internet using dial-up ISDN services and any form of Internet feed delivered
over Ethernet. Your hardware can be configured with either an ISDN card and an
Ethernet card or two Ethernet cards.
Conceptually, InterLinx
connects between your LAN and the Internet providing a single gateway that
shares your Internet connection to every computer on your network.
InterLinx supports a wide
variety of Ethernet-based Internet services including leased-lines, xDSL, cable
modem, fixed wireless and satellite services. These services have a variety of
bandwidth characteristics and InterLinx can support services up to
100Mbit/s. It supports both static and dynamic IP assignment.
From time to time during the business
day it is often useful to have InterLinx automatically connect to the ISP
to check for new Emails. InterLinx has a sophisticated ISDN dial-up
scheduler that allows you to set how often an InterLinx should check for
new mail.
Some dial-up service providers allow
customers to be connected all of the time for a fixed price. InterLinx
also supports these 'Always-On' connections.
Additionally, InterLinx is
capable of holding outbound Email for a short period until a batch of messages
can be sent using a single ISDN call. This can represent a considerable cost
saving.
