Content Control
Controlling the web content that can
be viewed by your users is important in most organizations and vital in others.
Business users can be made aware that their job is on the line if they are found
visiting inappropriate sites, whilst educational establishments need to
pro-actively control the content that their users can see.
InterLinx contains a
system-wide blacklist that is used to block all attempts to reach sites matching
the ones in the list. The blacklist can be managed manually by adding sites
directly or from the InterLinx activity monitor by selecting the sites to
be blocked.
The InterLinx whitelist allows
the users to access certain sites without being asked to authenticate. This has
two possible uses, firstly, to allow unfettered access to web sites that are so
benign that anyone can use them and secondly, to allow programs that
automatically update from the web to do so via the caching web proxy.
InterLinx supports Secure
Computing's SmartFilter content control database which categorizes millions of
web pages against 30 different types of web content. Each user group on InterLinx
can then have their own content policy defined and the members of those groups
will have their web browsing filtered using that policy and the SmartFilter
database.

By allowing group-based policies for
web content control InterLinx enables you to control the web browsing
permissions on a departmental or (in education) a year group basis.
InterLinx also automatically
takes care of SmartFilter database updates.
SmartFilter is an optional add-in to
InterLinx. It's cost is dependent on the number of computers in your
organization.
